Ashtabula County Planning Commission Meeting
The meeting involved the approval of the agenda and the bylaws revisions, as no adverse comments were received on the latter. New Business featured Case 2025-008, a Saybrook Township Zoning Map Amendment request to rezone a parcel from R2 to R4, which the Director of Planning and Development recommended disapproval of, suggesting a Planned Unit Development (PUD) instead due to infrastructure concerns. The Commission ultimately tabled this case pending a legal opinion from the Prosecutor's Office regarding the feasibility of including a PUD within R4 zoning. The Commission approved Case 2025-009, a Trumbull Township Zoning Text Amendment covering definitions for child care providers, medical marijuana, bed and breakfast, and solar systems. Additionally, Case 2025-011, a Wayne Township Zoning Text Amendment providing guidance for small-scale solar energy systems, was approved. The Other Business section included the election of officers for 2026, with Mr. Douglass nominated as chairman and Ms. Friedstrom as Vice Chair, and a brief discussion regarding grant money for Spire Road development.
