City of York Historical Architectural Review Board Regular Meeting
The board discussed a proposal for window replacements at 232 North George, specifically focusing on the differences in mullion and rail thickness between the proposed units and the existing arched sash windows. Key concerns included whether the windows need to be operable as exit windows according to building codes, the compatibility of the proposed design with the building's historical aesthetic, and the potential impact of custom window specifications. The board advised the applicant to confirm building code requirements regarding exit windows and explore other potential manufacturers that might offer a closer match to the original architectural details.
